Hello, as we get closer to the Festival of Quilts I  have come up with a way for you to have a chance to win two tickets to the show at the NEC, Birmingham.
My summer project this year has been to mix “worn and washed fabrics” speedy strippy quilts with more traditional techniques, during the never ending clear up in the fabric mines I kept on finding damask table cloths, huckaback linen and self stripe sheets, now they are all together with hexagons (also including worn and washed fabrics) appliqued for decoration.

On a technical note I basted the papers and die cut shapes, pressed them and removed the papers, I then machined the shapes to about half of the linen pieces before sewing the strips.  I also included one bigger set of hexagons, hand stitched in the traditional way.  I have stitched some of the hexagons to the quilt by hand on other pieces which gives a lovely result, but as I need to wash the quilts after every show I feel they might be more secure long term.

I have finished one quilt, see “rolled” below, and made some adjustments to the second  one which is now ready for hand quilting

The bundles of fabrics  300 grams each, the 40 die cut hexagons and papers are available by post now, the bundles are heavier than usual to take account of extra weight fabrics.  I have only included the lighter damask/linens, there will be some more projects using the heavier ones hopefully by August.  the finished quilt is 44″ x 42″.  The bundles are the same price as the others £30.00, and the forty hexagons with papers are £4.50,
So can you clever lot come up with a name for the new bundles? Please let me know by email or on the Facebook page and if I use your suggestion the tickets will be yours!
Good luck!
Kim
